Reply with quote | #21 | Wow.....it's been a few weeks, huh!
My visit to my radiation oncologist went really well, and she (and I!!) are really happy with how I have healed after rads and just how well I seem to be doing on Tamoxifen. She asked me twice if I had any stomach upset and then explained that many of the patients she sees who on on Tamox have problems with nausea and upset stomach. I am so glad I haven't had that happen! Bring on the sauerkraut and hot salsa (although, not together or that truly might make me gag)! HA
I can tell that I will be going barefoot and in t-shirts instead of long-sleeved shirts/sweatshirts in my house all winter because of overheating issues. So, like the rest of you, I feel like I can adapt to the little stuff and get on with it.
Carrie, has your SIL found any solutions? Why some breast cancer patients also have to be burdened with how to pay for treatment is just beyond me!
Hope you are all continuing to be well! {Hugs} __________________ "There are only two ways to live your life.

Reply with quote | #22 | Hi everyone, First I want to say to Natalie if you are reading that I am thinking of you and prayers are going up for you!
Does any one else's bottle of Tamox have one of those labels on the side that says drink with plenty of water?? Why was it necessary, and what happens if I don't ? Just something that made me go hmm? You know I'll have to Google that and scare myself unless one of you knows why?
Is any one having frequent headaches? It may have nothing at all to do with the med but I like to blame it all on the Tamox.
Sapphire count me as one with tummy upset. Hot flashes yo! Night sweats yo! It's funny that this thread got popped back up because I was thinking of you all on my way home tonight and going to ask you to check in.
SIL got her port in today and treatment starts next Wed. Still don't have all the financial figured out . I told her to contact a case manager and also gave her some more numbers hope something or someone can help her.

Reply with quote | #24 | Almost all of my meds say to drink a whole glass of water when I take them, so I am already in the habit of doing that. Drinking a lot of water helps the absorbtion of the meds. You really shouldn't drink anything other than water, too.......I remember reading something a while back that drinking different fruit juices dramatically restricts how much of the medication in actually absorbed.
Sorry you get an upset stomach, Carrie........that can't be fun! When do you take your Tamox? I take mine about 9:30 pm while I am watching TV at night because I have another med to take before I go to bed and I don't want to take them at the same time. Anyway, my stomach isn't completely empty by then so maybe that helps???
I had to laugh tonight because I was complaining it was too hot in here and my husband was covering up with a down throw! Dang those "sweaties" are aggrivating!
I am looking forward to my oncology appt. on the 19th.....I have a list of questions a mile long.
Good luck to your SIL, Carrie, as she starts treatment.
And even though I already posted to the other thread with your news, Natalie, I will also post here that I'll be thinking of you in the coming days as you find out more information. I know exactly how you feel......in the back of your mind you are thinking the worst and why the heck is this happening again! Only it may not be happening again........Natalie, I am praying that it is nothing and only the docs being super vigilant.
Hi to Kristin and Calico and Stacy........hope everyone is doing well! Our weather forecast says snow flurries for us tomorrow!! Maybe I should go outside and roll in it to cool off! __________________ "There are only two ways to live your life.

Reply with quote | #25 | Hi everyone, I wish I could say I am doing okay, but the truth is these everyday headaches are getting to me. I told the onc about it, but at the time I really wanted to see if they would resolve on their own. This is getting tiresome. The queasy tummy and sweats are tolerable. I am going to make an appointment with my GP and rule out anything else.
Sapphire thanks for the info I am taking my med at night before I go to bed. The nausea doesn't bother me until the A.M. or if I wake up. It is not bad and does'nt stay with me non stop through the day.Maybe the nausea is from taking Tyenol all the time from the headaches?? Just thought of that.
Natalie I read about you WONDERFUL news!! WHOOHOO
I have to run and get ready for work.

Reply with quote | #26 | Carrie, I am sorry you are not feeling up to par. I can honestly say I know almost exactly how you feel. I have suffered with migraine headaches for almost 40 years......it is not a picnic, even though I only get them 3-5 times a year. When your head hurts, it just tends to feel neverending and affects everything you do.
Let me throw this out there.......when I get a migraine, my stomach gets really upset sometimes. I am definitely not saying that your headaches are causing your stomach to be upset, but maybe they are contributing to the problem that is already there from the Tamox.
Anyway, I hope you get some answers! __________________ "There are only two ways to live your life.

Reply with quote | #27 | Carrie,
I read somewhere that if you have some caffine at the start of a migrain you could ward off the headache. I'm not sure it works but it's worth a try. I hope that your feeling better soon. __________________ NATALIE |

Reply with quote | #28 | Thank you ladies, These headaches are not like migranes, I can count on one hand (Thank God) the times that I have had a migrane. They are your run of the mill irritating headaches. The only time they are really bad is if I let it get too far. Yes Natalie sometimes I can get it under control with a cup of coffee and a shower? I appreciate you all so much. I go the doctor next week. Did you all read this CLICKHERE . Thank you G for all you do.
Natalie I posted to you about the FNA in another thread been there done that.

Reply with quote | #29 | Checking in.
I don't have much to report. No bothersome SE's of Tamox so far.
My follow up mammo was great. Whew, glad to know.
I have been busy, going back to school on line and being my son's Den Leader in Cub Scouts. I have been speaking to women with a Mammographer from our hospital this month. I love it and we have gotten many women scheduling their mammograms from our message.
Carrie, I'm sorry about your headaches. I like Excedrin for headaches, it really is better. I would suggest to always ask your onc. before taking anything. I printed out a list of meds that shouldn't be taken w/ tamox, there are a lot. I'm afraid to take anything without looking at the list. |
