Welcome Mainsails,

Interesting news...and I might add, not surprising, since so many people use anti-depressants, thinking they will forget they are supposed to actually feel something, like, emotions...lol.  Zombie or Cry-baby?  Tough call.  Breast Cancer, or more Breast Cancer Cry Babies?  What a crazy world we live in today, can't trust anything...especially drugs.  An article in the morning news got me all in a dither; it's about doctors getting kickbacks and cash incentives from Pharmaceutical Companies for prescribing particular drugs, or promoting them.  Communicating via the Internet has surfaced facts, names, places, which are now becoming Headline News, as it was today...on the front page of the newspaper.  The "who's=who?" in the entire scope of our medical establishment are quivering, covering tracks, and turning this annoying truth into a a "so-what?".  3 Big SSRI's,  Anti-D's and Tamoxifen...wow.

PROZAC...PAXIL...ZOLOFT...  When I think about these SSRI's, there is an enormous segment of our population using mood drugs on the advice of family doctors, psychiatric doctors, nurses, chiropractors, dentists...seems like everyone is on some kind of "soma", or soma-thing to help them feel H-A-P-P-y.  When/if a patient mentions sadness, depression, grief, change-of-life, cancer, aging...a prescription is given for one of these three drugs..Truthfully, (or dare to admit),  who has not consumed or has had these anti-depressants recommended to them at one time or another (those who visit md's regularly, anyway)?  I cannot help but wonder if, maybe...with or without Tamoxifen, if these so-called anti-depressants contribute to Cancers, in general.  The environmental issues, about Toxic Landfills, leaching these anti-depressants into our water, plants, livestock...OMG!  I wonder if this news will be swept under the giant medical door-mat, or will a few people wake-up and do something about it?   IMO, SSRI'S should be listed as dangerous drugS, and given a black box warning in the Surgeon General's Report.  Disturbing news, to say the least.

Thank you!  So glad you posted this article...

Love,
Indi

I could get on my soapbox here, maybe for just a line or 2. I suffered from depression for years, just did, and chemo certainly fed into the state of mind. But I was lucky enough to discover Vit D3. I took it in large doses for several reasons other than depression (I had a very low reading as well) but was surprised to find that the Depression left me after about 4 weeks of the D. I have no other explanation other than the D and I was one of hte ones who also experienced other good things. So, for me, (and I type that asking for all to take this with a grain of salt here) the D3 answered alot of my body's needs and has continued to help me through this. And btw, I took large doses of D2 prescribed by my onc and it didn't have the slightes effect.

Mainsail you are singing to the choir here! I am a big D taker and it has made an incredible difference in my life. I am on Femara and I do not suffer from the ghastly side effects so many women do. I have also found less pain, and a better sense of well being.

Stacy Girl! How are you? Celexa is ok. Glad you are feeling better and hope all is well with you!

Indi, are you on vitamin D? Did your onc test your levels? I take Blue Bonnet gel caps. It works the best if it is in a fat soluble suspension rather than dry.  Have you been to the CC yet? I worry about you!!!

Indi, my doc put me on the 50,000 IU a week BUT it was the D2 which really is not the one that we benefit the most from. Good doc, bad prescription.
